Lakes Entrance is set for a big afternoon of summer fun as the much-loved Duck Cup returns on Saturday, January 24, as part of the Australia Day long weekend celebrations. The event promises free family entertainment, live music, and a splash of friendly competition along the foreshore.
The day kicks off at 1pm with the sale of racing duck sponsorships, leading up to the highlight at 3pm — the Duck Cup race. Hundreds of bright yellow toy ducks will take to the water in a fast-paced, highly entertaining race. Locals and visitors are invited to sponsor a duck and cheer them on to the finish line, with prizes for the winning ducks adding extra excitement.
From 4pm, the foreshore comes alive with a FREE Family Fun Day, featuring live music from popular local performer Mike Elrington, a variety of inflatable and giant games for all ages, and free face painting for children. With plenty of space to relax, play, and soak up the summer atmosphere, it’s the perfect way to spend a holiday weekend afternoon by the water.
The Duck Cup is proudly hosted by the Lakes Entrance Action and Development Association and remains one of the region’s most popular community events. It celebrates community spirit, summer holidays, and the simple joy of coming together for a fun-filled afternoon on the foreshore.
