Lakes Entrance Tennis Club was delighted with the increase in numbers for its New Year Tournament with 48 players taking to the courts in perfect weather conditions over the two days.
President of the club Michael Spruzen said the support from local businesses was incredible with some great prizes for winners and the legendary raffle for a Wilson Racquet and other donations.
“The feedback from players was positive and the barbecue on Thursday evening and the lunch on Friday was outstanding,” Mike said.
“The graded round robin format was again popular. Special thanks must go to Nicola Brodie down from Townsville over the Festive season for organising and recording results.”
Tournament coordinator Boyd McPhee said the tournament would not run so smoothly without the super efforts of club members.
Mary-Jo Durrant returned to Lakes Entrance after missing last year to take out the women’s section one event, winning all her sets. She was the most consistent player over the two days. Mike Spruzen made it two in a row, winning the men’s section one event.
