Last Saturday’s Lakes Entrance parkrun, the 343rd edition, attracted the second biggest field in the event’s eight-year history.
An amazing 202 participants hit the esplanade for the weekly five-kilometre sojourn where people run, jog or walk for fun or fitness.
The only bigger crowd recorded was in the very first event, held on February 3, 2018, which saw 254 participants.
The event was led home by Ashton Foster in his first look at the course in 18 minutes and six seconds, with the first female home again Mia Calleja (21.19)
The event attracted 79 first timers and 24 people recorded new personal bests, with representatives of 18 different clubs taking part.
Locals Paul Etheridge and Margaret Rowley achieved significant milestones, Etheridge completing his 100th parkrun and Rowley an amazing 250.
Personal best times were recorded by Kristof King (20.360), Oliver Cannon (21.22), Matt Cameron (22.24), Thomas McIlroy (22.49), Josh Weeks (23.09), Rupert McIlroy (23.19), Annmarie Darcy (24.26), Trent Baxter (24.51), Sandra Baido (25.55), Caroline Evans (26.06), Logan Brown (28.07), Lucy Best (30.05), Kurt Best (30.06), Brenton Stokes (30.23), Jaxson Weeks (30.32), Ashlie Weeks (30.43), Jessica Saunders (30.48), Elizabeth Yore (32.34), Jenny Wagstaff (32.58), Nicole Spencer (33.08), Debbie Cupitt (39.26), Sarah Wheeler (45.42), Sydney Lotriet (47.40) and Robert Smith (47.41).
Representatives of Lakes and District Runners, Traralgon Harriers, The Adventurers, Point Cook Runners, Old Xaverians, oneALS, Spotto, East Gippsland Runners, Sale and District Runners, Running Mums Australia, Victorian Masters Athletics, The Leo Wanker Academy of Fitness, Baw Baw Runners, Derek Zoolander Centre for Kids Who Can’t Run Good, Girl Guide Trailblazers, Southern Peninsula Sports Club, Heart Foundation Walking and Australia Post Group took to the course.
The event departs the rotunda at 8am each and every Saturday.
