Lakes Entrance Secondary College held its annual presentation evening on Tuesday, December 16, celebrating the achievements, growth and contributions of students across all year levels.
The evening was organised and run by the student leadership council, who did an outstanding job hosting the event.
Families, friends and staff gathered
to recognise students for academic excellence, improvement, leadership, resilience and community contribution throughout the year.
The college was pleased to welcome Daryl Traplin and his wife Marie, who attended on behalf of the Lakes Entrance Freemasons Lodge. Each year, the Freemasons Lodge generously sponsors awards for most improved year 11 VCE student and most improved year 11 VCE vocational major student, providing a $1000 cash prize to
each recipient.
The most improved year 11 VCE student award was presented to Abigail Nolen, in recognition of her perseverance and resilience in her VCE studies.
The most improved year 11 VCE-VM student award was presented to Reanna Hughes, for her commitment to completing a full VCE-VM program and excelling both in her studies and workplace learning.
Academic excellence awards were then presented across the school, recognising students who consistently demonstrated outstanding academic achievement:
Year 7: Caleb Sloan
Year 8: Taylor Clough
Year 9: Sarah McDonald
Year 10: Ciara Kelly
Year 11 VCE: Keeley McCarthy
Year 11 VCE-VM: Remi Stephenson
This year, the college also participated in the Australian Defence Force Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Awards Program, which recognises students
who demonstrate leadership, teamwork, strong values, problem-solving skills and effective communication.

The ADF Future Innovators Awards, recognising excellence in STEM, leadership, teamwork and community contribution, were presented to Tyler James Teohaere (year 10) and Jacqulyn Shankland (year 12).
The college was also honoured to welcome the Federal Member for Gippsland, Darren Chester, who presented the Civics and Citizenship Award. This annual award recognises a student who has made a positive contribution to both the college and the wider community. The 2025 award was presented to Mackenzie Maroney, in recognition of her commitment and contribution to the college’s basketball skills program.
The evening concluded with the presentation of the college’s highest academic awards. Presented by the principal, Owen Henderson, Mrs Falk and Mrs South, recipients received certificates and flowers in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
As a college, Lakes Entrance Secondary College proudly recognised its top Vocational Major student, based on results and attendance. The Dux of Vocational Major for 2025 was awarded to Brianna Tillack.
It was then announced that the Dux of Lakes Entrance Secondary College for 2025, determined by Victorian Certificate of Education results, was Jacqulyn Shankland.
Presentation evening was a wonderful celebration of student achievement and effort, and the college congratulates all award recipients.
