It was a huge day at the Sale Golf Club last Sunday, filled with plenty of action and festive fun.
The morning began with 30 juniors taking lessons with Robert Walker and David Adamson, showing that the future of the club is in excellent hands. A well-attended two-person ambrose event followed, with teams dressed in Christmas spirit. The winners on the day were Jason McMillan and Shane Carter.
Play was briefly interrupted on the 13th hole by a slow-moving turtle, providing some light-hearted entertainment.
Club president Bruce Carter then had the honour of digging up a time capsule buried 25 years ago. Among the memorabilia was a letter written by Melanie Schaper, which she read aloud, along with a new letter to be placed in the next capsule.
The club’s newest life members, Jenny Cashman and Jo Ballinger, were presented with their certificates and badges. Fellow life member Ralph Stephenson sang a beautiful song while everyone waited for Santa to drop by on his way back to the North Pole, much to the delight of the younger attendees.
The day concluded with the raffles, which offered 42 prizes and plenty of happy winners.
