After missing out on re-election as chairperson at the recent Lakes Entrance Action and Development annual general meeting, Boyd McPhee is now looking to the future.
“It is with some sadness that I will move on to other pursuits,” Boyd said.
“I have enjoyed my 18-month involvement with LEADA and would like to think that I made some impact on moving Lakes Entrance forward as a better place to live.”
As chairperson of LEADA and a member of the infrastructure committee, Boyd dedicated his services to the Lakes Entrance community. He is proud of the relationship he fostered with East Gippsland Shire Council and thanked chief executive officer Fiona Weigall, mayor Cr John White and general manager assets and environment Stuart McConnell for their availability and assistance.
Boyd has seen many major improvements in the town including the footbridge playground, the revamp of Marine Parade, new infrastructure at both ends of the footbridge, progress of the Krauatungalung Walk, the impending design of the new stadium and Jemmys Point intersection. Along with the annual New Year’s Fireworks, Lakes Lights Winter Festival and Rocktober which were ably organised by the Business, Tourism and Events subcommittee.
“I would like to acknowledge other previous members of the committee especially Bruce Hurley who has made LEADA what it is today,” Boyd said.
“I wish to thank all the residents of Lakes Entrance and staff of East Gippsland Shire Council that I have had contact with over different issues and projects. I sincerely hope that LEADA continues to be an important voice for businesses and residents in Lakes Entrance and encourage people to have input into our town’s development.”
