It has been another big week of golf at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club, highlighted by a hole-in-one last Wednesday by Katrina Fearnley in the medley stableford event.
Fearnley aced the par three sixth hole in a round that accumulated 37 points, which left her outside the winners, but that was hardly a concern as she celebrated every golfer’s dream.
The event was won by “A” grade player Julie Rowe with an outstanding 43 points, with Sue Toseland taking “B” grade with an impressive
41 points.
The golfing week began last Tuesday with Ruthless and Toothless, with “A” grade going to Micheal Loveridge and “B” grade to the ageless Reg Kennedy.
Loveridge capped off a good day by posting the best round (39) and winning the putting (13).
A good group of 91 players competed in the Thursday medley stableford, which saw “B” grade player Stanley Short victorious on countback from “A” grade winner Clint Dostine, with Jason Leslie victorious in “C” grade, two shots back with 38 points.
Margaret Ellis won the Saturday’s ladies’ stroke event on countback from Di Gray, both finishing four under.
In the men’s, “A” grade player Rick Murray was a clear winner finishing three under, with “B” grade going to Peter Kane on countback from Nigel Carr, both coming in one under.
Tony Varone took “C” grade, while best round of the day was carded by Dean Grining, an impressive 76 off the stick.
