LAKE TYERS: Kelvan Trimble was delighted to land a variety of fish, from bream to flathead including this nice trevally. (PS)

There have been some good reports of fish being landed in the Lakes Entrance region, making throwing a line extremely rewarding at present.

Salmon are active off the Boardwalk at Metung chasing metal lures.

Lakes Entrance is the perfect spot for a relaxing day on the water with plenty of action. On a low tide you’re advised to target shallow sandbanks for the best chance at landing big flathead.

If you’re after bream, head to sheltered areas with deep banks, away from strong currents, using pipis or sandworm as bait.

Bullock Island is also productive with reports of good catches of both sand crabs and flathead, while there have been some impressive catches offshore of flathead.

Lake Tyers is a fishing mecca at present with perch and flathead up around Toorloo Arm.

The water condition is nice and clear with temperatures slowly increasing, bream, mullet and trevally are biting on Hurricane lures and vibes.

Another boastful angler reported catching big bream on fly and hybrid shrimp, with his buddy having similar results (including some flathead) on Hurricane Twitch 66 and Clone Prawn, the combo proving deadly for flathead and bream.

Whales have been regularly spotted off the beach and ocean currents are ripping into the lake.

LAKE TYERS: Michael Bryant tapped into some nice bream last Sunday, including 14 over 40 centimetres and five over 43 centimetres, with the biggest at 47.5 centimetres, all in the shallows on a Hurricane Twitch 66. (PS)
