Lakes Entrance Action and Development Association (LEADA) is preparing for its annual general meeting and is acknowledging the contribution of three of its members.
LEADA has released a statement to formally thank three long-serving committee members – Bruce Hurley, Terrence Hoffman and Alison Brewer – for their many years of commitment, energy and passion in supporting the growth and future of Lakes Entrance.
“The current LEADA committee acknowledges the contributions of Alison Brewer and Terrence Hoffman, who stepped down from the committee last year, and extends thanks for their many years of service. This year, Bruce Hurley has chosen not to re-nominate for the committee, though he will continue to volunteer his time and expertise by documenting and improving the walking trails around Lakes Entrance,” the statement reads.
“Each has played a vital role in LEADA’s work to strengthen our town as a thriving community and a welcoming destination. Through their combined efforts, Bruce, Terence, and Alison have contributed to countless projects, from advocating for infrastructure improvements and supporting local businesses, to promoting events and initiatives that showcase the very best of Lakes Entrance.
“As they step back from the Association, their contributions leave a lasting legacy. LEADA recognises the invaluable experience, ideas, and teamwork that Terence and Alison brought to the table throughout their service, ensuring the voice of the community was heard. Their dedication demonstrates the importance of community spirit and volunteerism.
“On behalf of our members, local businesses, and the wider Lakes Entrance community, LEADA extends heartfelt thanks to Bruce, Terence and Alison for their many combined years of service.”
BRUCE HURLEY
Bruce Hurley has been a steady presence on the LEADA committee for many years. Known for his methodical approach and deep commitment to community projects, Bruce has been instrumental in bringing residents, local council and leaders together to shape the future of Lakes Entrance. His advocacy has helped improve local facilities and strengthen communication between locals, the East Gippsland Shire Council and higher levels of government. Although stepping back from the committee, Bruce will continue to share his passion by assisting in the documentation and enhancement of the many walking trails around Lakes Entrance.
TERRENCE HOFFMAN
Terrence Hoffman has given countless hours to LEADA in the role of secretary, bringing both vision and energy to the committee’s work. His ability to encourage collaboration and keep community priorities at the forefront, such as emergency planning and preparedness, has made him a respected voice in local decision-making. Terrence has been particularly valued for his focus on practical solutions that benefit both residents and visitors, and he has left a lasting mark on many projects and discussions he has been involved in. His contribution reflects the true spirit of community leadership.
ALISON BREWER
Alison Brewer has played an important role within LEADA, bringing fresh ideas and a thoughtful perspective to the table. Throughout her time on the committee, Alison has been a strong advocate for initiatives that promote Lakes Entrance as a vibrant and sustainable town, with her unlimited enthusiasm and countless hours spent on events such as our annual New Years Eve Fireworks. Her input has helped shape key projects and ensured that community values remain central to the group’s activities. Alison’s commitment and willingness to contribute so much of her time exemplify the dedication of local volunteers who keep community organisations thriving.
LEADA is always looking for passionate locals who want to play a part in shaping the future of Lakes Entrance. By becoming a member or nominating for a position on the committee you will have the opportunity to contribute ideas, support local projects, and ensure our town continues to thrive as both a community and a destination.
Whether you are a long-time resident, a business owner or someone who simply cares about the place we call home, your involvement can make a real difference. Fresh voices and new perspectives are vital, and LEADA warmly encourage nominations for this year’s AGM.
For the right to vote or nominate for committee, you must be a member for at least 10 business days prior to the AGM, according to the LEADA Constitution.
So do not delay if you are ready to stand up for Lakes Entrance.
The upcoming LEADA annual general meeting will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 7pm at the Central Hotel, Lakes Entrance.
At 7.30pm, a public meeting will follow, giving residents an opportunity to provide feedback and hear from a panel including local councillor Arthur Allen, mayor John White and council’s general manager assets
and environment, Stuart McConnell.
