Lakes Entrance Fire Brigade will host an Open Day at the Bulmer Street Fire Station on October 18 between 10am and 2pm to help the community ‘Get Fire Ready’.
Community members are encouraged to drop in and chat to their local CFA volunteers about cleaning up their property, creating a fire plan and where to get emergency information by downloading the VicEmergency app.
Brigade members will have a range of information available, along with activities, demonstrations and a sausage sizzle.
Lakes Entrance Captain Phil Loukes encourages the local community to come down and meet the brigade.
“Connecting with our community is vital for our ongoing relationships but also to ensure our area is well prepared for a major emergency,” Phil said.
“This Open Day gives us the chance to encourage community members to take action and to assist them with their fire plan and general property preparedness.
“Fire safety is a joint responsibility and we need the community to do their part in assisting us so we can continue to protect lives and property.
“It’s important for residents in high-risk areas to be aware of their local dangers so they can act accordingly.
“We’re always here to help and this Get Fire Ready event is a great way to have that open discussion with our local community.”
CFA is also encouraging Victorians to know where to get timely information during an emergency.
Please download the VicEmergency app, set up your watch zones to your residential and travelling location, and listen to local emergency broadcasters such as ABC.
The brigade also welcomes anyone interested in being more involved with CFA. The Open Day is a great opportunity to ask about becoming a member – whether it’s responding to incidents, assisting with community safety, supporting fundraising, or helping behind the scenes. There are many ways to contribute, and every role helps protect the community.
