2024/25 Bairnsdale Cricket Association (BCA) two-day semi finalist, Lakes Entrance, will begin it’s 2025/26 campaign this Saturday when it takes on another of last season’s finalists, St Marys Nagle, at Nagle College.
It was a successful campaign last season for the Seagulls who took out one-day premiership for the first time in more than 20 years.
Jake Le Maitre will lead the side this season with Ben John as his vice captain.
They are buoyed by the return of the talented Noah Dodd and expect to get more games out of the immensely talented Tom Stubbs.
Right arm off spinner Ollie Chaplin and opening bowler Scott Tite join the Seagulls from England, with the Seagulls hopeful they can match the deeds of last year’s overseas players Sam Kincaid, Josh Sackfield and Jack Timms, who provided a solid impetus with bat and ball.
Chaplin and Tite are expected to bat in the
middle order.
Phani Kumar and Jaryd Leworthy have also departed but Lakes Entrance are again expecting plenty from their core group, which includes, John, Liam Allen and Kaleb Day.
Nagle is sure to be competitive with Andrew Perrin back at the helm coaching, skipper Ricky Tatnell a competitive beast and overseas players Jacob Hurry, Nathan Yarde and Hywell Nicholls all returning.
The Seagulls “B” grade side will start its season on October 11 when it hosts Paynesville at the Lakeside Oval.
The BCA under 13 competition will commence on October 10.
