Three local girls officially joined the ranks of Australian Girl Guides recently after making their Promise in a special ceremony with the Lakes Entrance Girl Guides.
Arden Turner and sisters, Rosie and Evie McMillan, proudly recited the Girl Guide Promise before their families and sister Guides. Despite any nerves, each girl chose to make her Promise individually, making the evening more special. As one of the unit’s longer-serving members, Lexi Drew had the honour of presenting each girl before they made
their Promise.
Unit leader, Sue Grima, said it was a wonderful occasion, celebrating not only the girls’ commitment but also the spirit of Guiding.
“Making the Promise is such an exciting step,” Sue said.
“Girl Guides opens up so many opportunities for adventure, friendship, and learning new skills – it’s always a thrill to welcome new members into the Guiding family.”
For Arden, Rosie and Evie, the occasion was filled with pride and anticipation for the adventures ahead, and they celebrated their big step by sharing cake with their Guiding sisters. They are now looking forward to joining in campfires, outdoor challenges, community service, and plenty of fun with their friends.
Australian Girl Guides provides a space for girls to grow in confidence, try new activities, and make lasting memories – and the three new members are already excited to embrace everything Guiding has
to offer.
Lakes Entrance Girl Guides meet every Monday of the school term at the U3A facility opposite the Toorloo Arm Primary School. For details on how to become involved with Girl Guides, as a girl or adult, visit the Girl Guides Victoria website.
