Another busy week of golf at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club has seen numbers beginning to build as the holiday-makers begin to return from the warmer climates.
Marg Ellis continued her good recent form by winning last Tuesday’s Young and the Rest of Us, with Robyn Daniel runner-up on countback from Anne Daniel.
Wednesday’s medley event was the popular par plus, the event dominated by “B” grade players with Sue Toseland victorious on countback from Di Gray, both finishing on plus five.
Katrina Fearnley secured “A” with a steady plus two.
Thursday’s stableford event attracted 83 players and was won by “C” grade player Allan Taylor, trumping the early comers with his late round of 41 points.
Bernie Cornell hit them straight to nail “A” grade with 38, with Westy Stephens taking “B” grade on countback from Frank McNamara.
The popular Val Gilbert was the winner of the ladies’ event and “B” grade on Saturday with 34 points.
Renee Percival was again among the victorious, claiming “A” grade with 31 points. Surprisingly she didn’t pocket a nearest the pin.
The overall winner of the men’s event that attracted 78 players was “A” grade player, Garry Jeal with 37 points, winning overall from Allan Lawson who captured “C” grade.
Ian Stephens was delighted with his 36 points winning effort in “B” grade.
