Birdlife East Gippsland's 'come and try' birdwatching activity will be held at Macleods Morass this Sunday. (PS)

On Sunday, August 31, from 9am to 10.30am, Birdlife East Gippsland will host a ‘come and try’ birdwatching activity at Macleods Morass, Bairnsdale, meeting at the car park at the end of Bosworth Road.

Birdlife East Gippsland welcomes new members and visitors, introducing quarterly Sunday morning outings in readily accessible locations to encourage interested people to come along and ‘try out’ birdwatching in a friendly and welcoming group.

Throughout the year, Birdlife East Gippsland meets weekly from 9am to 12pm on Mondays in a range of diverse locations. While gatherings are social and friendly, there is a purposeful focus on sharing the bird species and numbers

seen during the morning which adds interest and fosters knowledge and skills related to bird observing.

This information is submitted to Birdata, Birdlife Australia’s national bird monitoring platform.

Along with your curiosity and enthusiasm, bring along refreshments, water and a portable chair; wear appropriate clothing, boots and sun protection.

Binoculars are useful and Sunday sessions will ensure there are some spare binoculars for newcomers.

Planned outings may be affected by regional weather and emergency warnings.

Outing information updates can be checked via Birdlife East Gippsland’s Facebook page.

General information on Birdlife East Gippsland can be found online via the Birdlife Australia website.
