The highlight of the golfing action at Lakes Entrance Golf Club last week was the playing of the annual Vietnam Veterans 4BBB last Saturday.

Despite the weather having its moments, 91 players teed up and enjoyed a great day of golf. The event was won by Lee Burt and Bernie Hoppe with an impressive 44 stableford points.

Runners-up were Sue Toseland and Val Gilbert with 43 points, while third place was decided on countback, going the way of Katrina Fearnley and John Timmermann.

Last Tuesday’s ladies’ nine-hole event was won by Marg Rowe who continued her outstanding run of form.

Ruthless and Toothless was again well patronised with 41 players taking to the fairways, with the winner being the popular Hoppe.

Paul Mifsud had the best round of the day, a sensational 40, while Tony Fedat found his groove on the greens having just 12 putts.

Numbers were down for Thursday’s medley stableford, led home by “A” grade player Zach O’Rourke with 38 points, with Spud Le Maitre showing a return to form taking “B” grade with 37 points, and Patrick Kinsella victorious in “C” grade with 36 points.

Popular members Val Gilbert and Sue Toseland were runners-up in the annual Vietnam Veteran events. (PS)
