Nationals Member for Gippsland East, Tim Bull, is urging local community and sporting groups to apply for VicHealth’s Growing Healthy Communities grants, now open until October 30.
The program focuses on supporting young Victorians (0–25 years) and their families, particularly those who face structural barriers to good health, including women and girls, people from low socio-economic backgrounds, those living with disability or mental health challenges, regional residents, LGBTIQA+ people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
There are two tiers of funding available $10,000–$50,000 and $50,001–$150,000.
“This year’s theme is simple but important: everyone should have access to the resources they need to be healthy,” Mr Bull said.
Eligible groups include sporting clubs, community organisations, cultural and creative groups, some local governments and other not-for-profits.
“Our grassroots organisations are the heart of our communities, and this funding can help remove barriers and give more locals the opportunity to lead active, connected and healthy lives,” Mr Bull said.
