On a lovely sunny morning, 31 enthusiastic participants tackled the five-kilometre Lakes Entrance parkrun along the magnificent esplanade last Saturday morning.
They worked their way up and down the pavement, with smiles and grimaces on their faces, walking, jogging and running for fitness or fun, and the fellowship that the weekly event offers.
The event attracted five first-time participants and regular participant Tania Casey ran a personal best time of 25 minutes and four seconds.
Two of the first time participants led the field home with Greg Evans (20.54) and Yann Gardin (20.58), finishing just ahead of Edward Wilson (20.59).
The first woman across the line was local favourite Peta Bassett (24.44).
Participants departed from the rotunda at 8am with representatives from the Southern Peninsula Sporting Club, Everlasting Fitness Runners, Australia Post Group, Lakes and District Runners, Raring2Run and victorian Masters Athletics among the starters.
