Nicholas and Thomson win 4BBB

The highlight of the week at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club was the playing of the 2025 men’s 4BBB Championship.

In a tight contest the winners were Peter Nicholas and Laurie Thomson, who defeated Igor Malejew and Adrian Parry 3-2.

On Tuesday at Young and the Rest of Us, Marg Rowe and Margaret Ellis went head-and-head with Marg Rowe winning on countback with 16 points.

Ruthless and Toothless attracted a healthy field of 41 players with Gary Watson shooting the best gross score (38), and claiming “A” grade with a score of 34 on countback from Paul Mifsud.

Mark Vannus took out “B” grade with a well-compiled 33 points.

Wednesday’s stroke medley saw Julie Rowe victorious in “A” grade and overall with a great score of minus three, Rhonda Beckett was the winner of “B” grade with a score of even.

Thursday event was medley par plus with “C” grade player Don Haley (plus three), the overall winner after some superb putting on the back nine.

Tim Stewart (plus one) played a great round, to win “A” grade while Peter Knight (plus two) won “B” grade on countback from Stanley Short.

It was stableford day last Saturday for both the men and the women.

The men’s event was dominated by consistent “A” grade player Neil Howell who shot 39 points.

Peter Kane struck the ball beautifully, taking “B” grade also with 39 points, while Donny Blamire returned to form taking “C” grade with 37 points.

Di Gray had a day out in the women’s event accumulating a great round of 40 points to win “B” grade and overall.

Julie Rowe continued her great week taking “A” grade on countback from Renee Percival, who had to be content with two nearest the pins.
