Despite a morning shower and a damp course, 22 enthusiastic participants braved the elements in the Lakes Entrance parkrun last Saturday.
They worked their way up and down the esplanade, walking, jogging and running the five kilometre cause for fitness or fun, and the fellowship that the weekly event offers.
It was the first event where regular volunteer Alison Doucette has acted as the race director.
The event attracted three first-time participants and two regulars obtained impressive personal best times.
Two of the first time participants virtually crossed the line together at the head of
the pack, with Isaac Carne with a time of 21 minutes
and 57 seconds, finishing marginally ahead of Callan Green (21.58).
The first woman across the line was Tania Casey (26.01), with personal best times recorded by Bec Voss (27.27) and Jenny Wagstaff (34.28).
Participants departed from the rotunda at 8am with representatives from the Southern Peninsula Sporting Club, Everlasting Fitness Runners and Australia Post Group among the starters.
