Retirement living reimaginedA fresh chapter underway in Lakes Entrance

Lakes Entrance Retirement Village manager Monica Moorhouse says the village is "designed with dignity, independence and local character in mind".

Tucked just a short walk from the heart of town, the over 55s Lakes Entrance Retirement Village is not your typical retirement option — and that’s something to celebrate.

Let’s start by clearing the air: Retirement villages are often misunderstood, painted as places of compromise or decline. But that couldn’t be further from the truth here. This is not about giving something up — it’s about gaining a lifestyle filled with ease, connection, security and comfort.

“We’re proud to say that our boutique village has breathed new life into a prime piece of land that has had lots of different rumours around it over the years,” manager Monica Moorhouse said.

“What was previously a little bit unloved, has been thoughtfully transformed into a beautiful, secure and energy-efficient community, designed with dignity, independence and local character in mind.

“And we do mean local. Our directors are all East Gippsland locals who understand the rhythms of life here. They have designed this village with their own parents at front of mind, and they all live locally, it is a very personal project for them.”

Monica has a history of working in real estate and understands that choosing where you live at this stage of life is a big decision. She is here to make it feel personal, human and unrushed. She is passionate about this new beautiful community and is always up for a cuppa and a face-to-face chat to talk about the ins and outs of how the whole village runs.

“Our community centre will be the beating heart of the village, a warm and inclusive space where residents can connect, create or simply relax. Behind the scenes, security and smart technology quietly support peace of mind — letting you focus on the good stuff.

“The villas themselves are light-filled, low-maintenance, and highly energy-efficient. With solar panels on every roof, you’ll enjoy comfort without the cost. There are several floor plan options to suit a range of preferences and needs, all pet-friendly—because we know your best friend is part of the family too.

“This is a boutique village, meaning it will never be overcrowded, and neighbours become friends. And with walking access to shops, cafés, and services, you can leave the car at home more often than not.

“To our early residents, we say: thank you. Your trust means everything, and yes, we’re offering a ‘Pioneers’ Special’ to those who are ready to join us as we shape this community from the ground up.

“Come and see for yourself. We invite you to have a walk-through, share your story, and find out if Lakes Entrance Retirement Village feels like home.

Because it just might be.”
