Legatee and RAAF veteran Don Hannington has been awarded the 25-year service certificate for his work with East Gippsland Legacy.
Don was inducted into Legacy in May 2000 and held the position of president from 2010 to 2012 and contact secretary. He was also very active on the Gippsland Lakes Coastal Board, Rotary and the Anglican Church Scouting Association.
East Gippsland Legacy congratulates Don on his award and all his achievements.
Legacy was established by World War I veterans to provide care and support to families of deceased and injured veterans.
2025 Legacy Week in East Gippsland will be from Monday, September 1 to Saturday, September 6. It is the primary fundraising annual event for Legacy and raises funds for local families in our area.
“It is important to know that all monies raised are only spent to provide care and support to East Gippsland beneficiaries,” president and secretary of East Gippsland Legacy Tony Webb said.
“It has been a very cold winter this year and East Gippsland Legacy has provided considerable support for gas and electricity funds as well as firewood to ensure everyone is staying warm.”
Once again local Legatees and volunteers will be selling badges, bears and other merchandise in four locations.
They will be at Bairnsdale’s Coles, Aldi, Woolworths and Luckes; Paynesville IGA; Lakes Entrance Aldi and Orbost Newsagency.
Eftpos is available and any enquiries regarding donations or to become a volunteer Legatee can be made to Tony Webb at East Gippsland Legacy.
