THUMBS UP: To the young lady who picks up rubbish on the streets of Bairnsdale. Thanks and job well done.
THUMBS DOWN: To the responsible authority for placing water catchment dams / stagnant water close to residential areas. This increases the mosquito problem and risk of mosquito virus transmission.
THUMBS DOWN: To the local servo for refusing to fix the bent concrete bollard that has now damaged two cars so far.
THUMBS UP: To the Orbost SES crew who rescued me when I had a nasty accident on the rocks at East Cape Conran. I was trying to access the beautiful boardwalk located there. But THUMBS DOWN, there is no designated path over the first set of rocks, which have to be crossed to reach this boardwalk. It was suggested to Parks Victoria they construct a sign to warn people of such an issue. Their response, ‘Yes, we have one on our website.’ Really.
THUMBS DOWN: The cost of living has gone mad. I tried to purchase a cheeky two-litre bottle Coke at a local servo only to read $12.80 at the cashier’s register! What has the world come to. Might have to stick to tap water, but where’s the buzz there.
THUMBS UP: Customer service at the shoe store in Bairnsdale Mall – exceptional in all respects. Informed, patient staff, great range of choices, and the best fitting shoes I’ve ever bought.
