Last Saturday’s Lakes Entrance parkrun was dominated by the Calleja family with Michael first across the line closely followed by daughter, Mia.
On a mild winter’s morning 34 participants worked their way up and down the esplanade, with the event attracting four first timers and three athletes achieved personal bests, as they walked, jogged and ran for fitness or fun.
Michael Calleja was the first person home in an impressive 21 minutes and 48 seconds with teenage daughter Mia again impressing, the first female home and in second place overall, in 22 minutes and 10 seconds.
The event departed from the rotunda at 8am with representatives of five running groups taking part in the action, joining like-minded people, all afforded the opportunity to get some exercise while socialising.
The event saw representatives from Southern Peninsula Sporting Club, Lakes and District Runners, Pakenham Road Runners, Everlasting Fitness Runners and Australia Post Group take part.
Personal best times were recorded by Chris Edwards (23.33), Chris Seymour (27.33) and Dallas Riseley (32.58).
This week’s run was assisted by the efforts of volunteers Alison Doucette, Alan Drayton, Lindsay Rae Green, Matthew York, Kaye Hallam, Glynn Risely, Abdalla Siddig and Mick Bedford.
