Local artists Lisa Roberts and Crystal Stubbs are showcasing their latest bodies of work in two compelling new exhibitions at Briagolong Art Gallery.
This marks the first time in more than five years that either artist has exhibited publicly.
Lisa Roberts exhibition The Future is a Big Sky presents a series of evocative photographs that bear witness to the changing forests of GunaiKurnai Country.
Lisa says of her artwork “It is easier to document wastelands that let in the sky than it is to photograph the immensity of a living forest. The future is another country, it’s a big sky and it’s just over the hill.”
Crystal Stubbs, a hot glass artist with more than 20 years of experience, is exhibiting a collection of sculptures titled Bend Without Breaking.
Her work features a fusion of glass and ceramic animals set within structural forms crafted from concrete and steel.
These pieces form part of a new series that explores the tension between expanding human environments and the fragile ecosystems increasingly threatened by them.
Both exhibitions run until August 2 at Briagolong
Art Gallery.
Open Saturdays and Sundays 11am to 3pm.
