Some impressive catches have been landed in the region recently with last weekend’s Twin Rivers Bream Classic showcasing the best the region has to offer.
More than 700 entrants reeled in more than 1600 fish across two days in the local system.
But the catches haven’t been secluded to the rivers.
Mitchell River: Try the Silt Jetties for a variety of fish options. Bream are at The Cut (use prawn) and mullet at Dog Hole (use sandworm).
Tambo River: Look for bream near the river mouth.
Nicholson River: Bream are at the river mouth on soft plastics. Other spots that are producing good results include Strait Six, car park, Swimming Hole (use sandworm, cut crab, or prawn).
Metung: Salmon along the boardwalk (use prawn).
Paynesville/Hollands Landing: Bream at backwater and The Cut (use hard plastics). Town jetties are good for prawn and lures.
