Stratford made good use of the wind in its East Gippsland Football Netball League round 12 match against Lakes Entrance at Boyd Reserve.
The Swans kicked seven unanswered first term goals,
the Seagulls scoreless as Stratford led by 44 points at the first break.
A slow start again proved costly for Lakes Entrance – a common theme which will be no doubt disappointing coach Darren Martin.
With Jack Bacon again missing with injury, Stratford introduced young Jacob Williams who kicked three goals on debut, teaming well with the in-form Alex Morcom who booted four.
The Seagulls were certainly more productive in the second term, their only quarter victory for the match, but they weren’t as dominant as the Swans, who filled the holes
more effectively.
They kicked three goals to one, their only three goals for the match with Max Stevens offering a target up forward kicking two goals.
Stratford led by 33 points at half time, the match petering out in the second half with the Swans struggling to convert kicking 3.10 to just three behinds from the Seagulls.
Jarryd Clohesy has continued to improve with game time, joined in the best by skipper Harry Langford, Reggie Tait, Williams, Thomas Brew and Nathan French.
Tait has played limited football over the past few years but is a key player for the Swans when up and running, offering versatility and the ability to play as a tall and a small.
Brew impressed a couple of seasons ago at Paynesville after having a mid-season fall out with Boisdale Briagolong.
Best for the Seagulls were Mitchell Banner, George Ioakim, Angus McKenzie, Jordan Clarke, Oscar Brazzale and
Angus Stevens.
Lakes Entrance will play Wy Yung at Bullumwaal Road this Saturday.
