Victoria Police reported that on July 3 Omeo Police were patrolling the Great Alpine Road in the Kosciusko Lookout area when they detected an unregistered white Triton following another vehicle which appeared to be driving in convoy.
Police intercepted the unregistered vehicle and the driver, a 43-year-old male from Lakers Entrance, provided police with a valid unregistered permit, however not a valid name and gave his twin brother’s name.
Upon finding out the correct name of the driver, it was clear the male did not hold a valid driving licence and also had a warrant for his arrest.
Police checked the second vehicle, a silver Mazda. Although it was registered they discovered that this driver, a 43-year-old female from Lakes Entrance, had a disqualified licence. She also failed a roadside drug test detecting both cannabis and methamphetamine.
Both vehicles were impounded for 30 days at the cost of $1875 each.
Both drivers will receive summons to court for various driving and crime offences in coming months.
