Despite there being an excess of water in the region, the fish are still finding their way onto the hook.
Mitchell River: Give around the Silt Jetties a go with reports there are still some nice sized fish being landed. Try The
Cut for bream on prawn. Mullet are at the Dog Hole
on sandworm.
Tambo River: Keep your eyes out for bream in and around the river mouth.
Nicholson River: Bream are being caught in the river on soft plastics, especially at the river mouth. Try the Strait Six, car park and Swimming Hole for bream on sandworm, cut crab and local prawn.
Metung: Try along the boardwalk for salmon using prawn.
Paynesville/Hollands Landing: Good size bream at the backwater and The Cut on hard plastics. Give the town jetties a go using prawn and lures.
Despite the cold weather and plenty of excess water in the system, some surprisingly good catches for those prepared to show some patience, guile and intestinal fortitude.
Lakes Entrance: As winter is upon us, you may find fishing a bit slow around the lake system, but with a bit of patience you never know what you may land. Offshore, salmon numbers are healthy with some larger fish being landed using bigger baits and lures. A burley trail to entice the school to hang around has also had good results. Large swordfish have also been caught in the deeper waters offshore.
Lake Tyers: The lake is cold and muddy at the moment. The odd bream and flathead are being landed biting on lures. Around the structures, bream are liking soft plastics.
