There were some great results for Lakes Entrance at the netball courts in round 11 of the East Gippsland Football Netball League, winning five of seven matches at home against Paynesville.
In “A” grade the Seagulls won their second match of the season, making short work of the winless Paynesville, victorious 59-26.
Despite having to make some significant changes due to unavailability, the Seagulls were quickly out of the blocks, establishing a 20-6 scoreline by quarter time.
The ball movement was quick and slick, making life difficult for the Gulls.
Despite slow starts to the second and third quarters, Lakes maintained the momentum without reaching the precision of the first term, cruising to victory.
Among the best for Lakes were Tilly Richardson, Hannah Kleeven, Lucy Carroll and Emma Yates.
It was win number three for the “B” grade side, running away with victory late 36-20 courtesy of some great team play and consistent effort from all players.
Pariss McKendry, Tayla Mills, Bec Rotheram and Alyssa Witham leading the way.
There was delight and excitement after the “C” grade match with Paynesville winning its first match for the season.
In a tight contest, the Gulls established an advantage in the third quarter holding on for 28-21 win, despite the best efforts of the Seagulls down the stretch.
Elly Forrester, Michaela Hooper and Verity Jakins named in the best for Lakes.
It was win number two for the season for the Seagulls in “D” grade, accurate passing and shooting setting up an early advantage which they continued to build on, winning 44-23.
The coaching panel is hopeful that momentum gained, as well as the improved confidence and decision making can continue in the coming weeks and result in more victories.

The ladder leading Lakes under 17 carried on their winning way, outclassing Paynesville 51-8 in a clinical performance.
Lucy Carroll, O’Donnell and Makayla Grabham all continued their outstanding seasons.
Paynesville came out strong in defence in the under 15s, playing consistent netball while Lakes Entrance struggled for scoring momentum against a tough opponent.
The Gulls ran away with an easy 51-26 victory, with Lilly Eiseman and Sadie Stevens consistent contributors for the Seagulls.
It was a better result for the fourth-ranked Lakes in the under 13s, eclipsing the winless Gulls 22-11.
The Seagulls started and finished strongly, led by Indie Lina and Keelie Silver, with the shooting and defensive combinations pivotal in the victory.
After the mid-season break the Seagulls will head to Stratford on July 19 to do battle with the Swans at Boyd Reserve, where wins are always hard to achieve.
