Pedalling pure fun

Get ready for a weekend of high-speed thrills, muddy tires and fancy dress flair as the East Gippsland MTB Winter Enduro Race rolls into Mt Taylor Mountain Bike Park on July 12 and 13.

This two-day event will excite mountain biking enthusiasts across Victoria, drawing riders of all ages and abilities to East Gippsland’s legendary trails for a celebration of skill, speed and serious fun.

Saturday – The Race Is On

The main event kicks off Saturday morning with the flagship Winter Enduro Race — a test of endurance, strategy and downhill nerve. With four iconic trails in play, riders will face a simple format: pedal up, race down. Competitors can attempt each trail up to five times, with their fastest time counting toward the final result.

The four featured trails — Flow Trail, All Mountain, Time to Drop / Tip Run, and the adrenaline-pumping Downhill into Southern Cross Descent — offer a perfect blend of technical challenge and high-speed flow.

Sunday – Costumes, Chaos and Chainless Challenges

After the dust settles from Saturday’s racing, Sunday is all about fun, with a full day of novelty events that throw strategy out the window and celebrate the sheer joy of

riding bikes.

Highlights include the ever-entertaining Whip-Off and Best Trick Competition, a slippery Chainless Race down the Southern Cross Descent, and a wildly unpredictable Mixed Relay Race – all done in fancy dress. Yes, capes, wigs and outrageous costumes are not only welcomed, but encouraged.

Local legends will be on hand to judge the

best tricks, the best whips — and of course, the best dressed.

Whether you’re a pint-sized rider or a seasoned shredder, there’s a category for you. Riders will be grouped by age and experience level, with classes ranging from under 11s right through to masters 40+, including dedicated E-Bike divisions for men and women.

Mountain Biking East Gippsland will be running a full-service canteen all weekend long, serving up hot breakfasts, lunches, snacks and drinks. On-site camping is also available, making it easy for riders and families to settle in and soak up the full weekend experience.
