The Light Up Lake Tyers Beach community group rallied together to erect a noticeboard for the community recently.
“The funds for this noticeboard were raised by having a few Friday night raffles at the Waterwheel Beach Tavern,” Avis Salisbury said.
“After obtaining permission from the East Gippsland Shire to build and erect the noticeboard, a group rallied together to dig the holes, thanks to Shane Greaves and Warren Shields. They made sure all was done safely after obtaining information from the relevant bodies such as Ausnet, Telecom, Gippsland Water etc. before they dug.”
Resident and carpenter, Andrew Mathot, constructed the noticeboard with the aid of many helpers, including safety guy, Brenn Harvey. Avis and Phill Salisbury attached the lockable noticeboard with the aid of Sue and Lindsay Stewart and sealed the wood against the weather. The unique sign was made by Miranda and Terry Fulford.
“Our community teamwork produced results, well done Lake Tyers Beach,” Avis said.
The community noticeboard is for any member or organisation in the area to use, either by having pamphlets put into the lockable case or banners can be attached to advertise any event. Details of who to contact are noted in the cabinet.
This Friday will see another raffle at the Waterwheel Beach Tavern which will display some solar lanterns made from recycled soft drink plastic bottles.
