It’s time to hit

18 June 2025
in Local News

The snow season opening storm, that saw 70cm of snow

fall on Mount Hotham resort has no passed and it’s time

to get out and play.

With snow falling heavily prior to and throughout the King’s Birthday long weekend, you couldn’t have asked

for a better start to the season.

Lighter drops of snow have continue throughout this

week with the sun set to be shining this weekend.

Snow runs Big D, Road Runner and Summit Quad were open earlier this week while Village Laps are also in on

the action.

The Mount Hotham operations team has been working around the clock to prepare runs and lifts and with favourable snow making conditions ahead things will

only get better.

So, what are you waiting for?

Discover the Best at Hotham

With the snow season soon to be in full swing, Mount Hotham is once again a premier destination for skiers and snowboarders looking for thrilling alpine experiences. Known as the “powder capital” of Australia, Hotham offers a diverse range of ski runs that cater to every skill level — from beginners to seasoned experts.

For those just starting out, Big D and Summit Run are ideal. These wide, gentle slopes are perfect for building confidence and mastering the basics. Big D is also home to a night-skiing option on select evenings, adding a touch of adventure for families and first-timers.

Intermediate skiers should head straight to Sun Run and Blue Ribbon, two of the resort’s most popular blue runs. Sun Run offers long, scenic stretches ideal for carving, while Blue Ribbon features steeper pitches and excellent snow conditions, providing a more challenging descent.

Advanced and expert skiers won’t want to miss Mary’s Slide and Gotcha Face. Mary’s Slide is notorious for its steep gradient and natural obstacles, appealing to thrill-seekers. Gotcha Face, accessible via the Gotcha chairlift, is a high-alpine favorite offering deep snow and expansive views — not for the faint of heart.

Freestyle enthusiasts can enjoy terrain parks like The Basin Terrain Park, complete with jumps, rails, and features designed to test tricks and style.

With over 320 hectares of terrain, 13 lifts, and a snowmaking system to keep the slopes in top condition, Mount

Hotham is the go-to spot for a true alpine adventure. Whether you’re chasing powder or perfecting

turns, there’s a run here for everyone.

Ski or snowboard some of Australia’s most beautiful terrain
then sit back by an open fire and drink in the views. Mt Hotham
features the perfect mix of beginner, intermediate and expert runs,
masterfully groomed slopes, tree-lined back country bowls and terrain parks.
