Lakes Entrance has been named a finalist in the 2025 Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards, a state-wide recognition of towns that offer outstanding visitor experiences and community spirit.
Now, locals are being called on to help Lakes take out the top prize by casting their vote before 5pm on Friday, June 27.
Why does it matter? This recognition is not just about tourism accolades, it is about enhancing the future of our town.
“After a summer with strong visitor numbers but softer than expected spending, this is a valuable opportunity to attract new visitors and give our local economy a much needed boost,” chair of LEADA Business, Tourism and Events Sharen Cameron said.
A win for Lakes Entrance would bring statewide promotion, increase interest in off-peak travel, and showcase the town across tourism networks and marketing campaigns.
“Visitor numbers have been healthy, but local businesses are telling us that spending is still down. Winning this award could help drive longer stays, more visitor spend, and positive momentum for our local economy.
“Voting is open to everyone, and it only takes a minute to support our town.”
The deadline is 5pm, Friday, June 27.
Everyone who votes goes into the draw to win a Melbourne luxury getaway for two, including two nights in a Superior King Room at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, with breakfast included, $500 in dining vouchers at top Melbourne restaurants, a Shark Dive Xtreme at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium, entry to LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Melbourne and two Ultimate Skydeck Packages. Just by supporting your town, you could win this unforgettable city break.
Lakes Entrance proudly represents the Top Tourism Town population over 5000 category and is joined by two East Gippsland neighbours in the 2025 finals. They are Paynesville as a Small Tourism Town finalist, and Marlo as a Tiny Tourism Town finalist
“Together, these nominations shine a light on the strength of tourism across East Gippsland, and you can vote for all three East Gippsland towns at the same time. Let’s do this, Lakes,” Sharen said.
“This is a moment of pride for the whole community, from accommodation providers and hospitality staff to artists, volunteers and business owners, everyone. The award recognises everyone who helps make Lakes Entrance a welcoming and memorable place to visit.
“Please take a moment to vote and encourage your family, friends and co-workers to do the same. Let’s show the rest of Victoria why Lakes Entrance is a place worth visiting, and worth celebrating,” Sharen said.
