The Gippsland Lakes system is again to the fore, providing some significant catches of bream and flathead.

Mitchell River: Bream are scattered in the Backwater, while flathead, bream and perch are around the Butter Factory. Bream and flathead can also be found at the Grassy Banks. The river mouth has tailor and the Silt Jetties are offering up mullet. Best baits are live prawn and shrimp, local prawn and for flathead blue bait.

Tambo River: The river mouth and around The Snags are having ok results. Fishing has been reported as a “bit slow” though.

Nicholson River: The river mouth and down to the Swimming Hole is on fire for bream, with the preferred baits being local prawn, shrimp and cut crab.

Metung: Bream and flathead are biting on live shrimp, frozen prawn and hard-bodied lures. Along the sea wall is producing great results.

Paynesville/Hollands Landing: Bream are liking live shrimp with flathead preferring soft plastics.

Around Hollands Landing and into Toms Creek are producing nice-sized bream.

GIPPSLAND LAKES: Not to be out done by his wife, Blair Bryant caught this magnificent black bream. (PS)
LOCH SPORT: Judy Harley was again amongst the flathead, hocking this 52 centimetre beauty in the gorgeous autumn sunshine. (PS)
HONEYSUCKLE: Les Tyler enjoyed his morning fishing and was rewarded for his efforts. (PS)
