BAIRNSDALE: Local secondary college year eight student leaders have been actively working to enhance the school experience for their peers. After receiving a thoughtful suggestion to provide umbrellas for students during wet weather changeovers, they didn't hesitate to take action. Thanks to their initiative and the generosity of Bunnings, who kindly donated umbrellas, students now have access to shelter during rainy transitions between classes. This is a fantastic example of student voice leading to real, positive change within the school community. (PS)

Similar to their sand and yank flathead surveys in Port Phillip, the team is looking for small fish to determine how successful recent breeding has been, this helps to forecast how well the fishery will perform into the future as these fish grow up to catchable size. For these surveys, research nets are used in shallow water to capture baby duskies at multiple sites.
