Denison’s Ava Harrington has excelled, winning three gold medals at the recent Australian Pentathlon Multisport Championships in Toowoomba, Queensland.
The 13-year-old Sale College student was competing in the under 15 division, taking out the top spot in the pentathlon, tetrathlon and the obstacle course racing and laser run.
After an impressive start in fencing, running and shooting, and a personal best time in the swim, Harrington improved on her second place with an outstanding effort in the obstacles to win the pentathlon.
In the process, Harrington also took out the national tetrathlon (swim, laser run and obstacle run) and obstacle course-laser run championships.
Harrington is working towards competing in the laser run world championship, to be held in South Africa in December.
Laser run consists of
running and laser pistol shooting, last year Harrington competed in the same event in China.
