New government home batteries program offers real savings

26 May 2025
in Local News

Launching on July 1 2025, the Federal Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program offers small businesses and home owners the opportunity to make genuine savings on a new solar battery storage system.

According to Rob Rawlings, owner-manager of Solahart Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance, the program could potential save property owners “thousands of dollars on a new battery system”.

“The rebate offers eligible homes and small businesses up to $372 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of usable battery capacity,” Rob explained.

“With the rebate applying to batteries with a storage capacity of between 5kWh and 50kWh, the savings can be considerable.”

Rob said that the rebate applies for properties – new or old – with existing solar systems, including off-grid and community buildings.

“Even systems installed between April 6 2025 and July 1 2025 might qualify, as long as they remain remain un-commissioned until the rebate begins,” he said.

Ron explained that to take best advantage of the rebate program, it’s important to speak to a solar expert as soon as possible.

“The expert team at Solahart Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance can check your eligibility, ensure you get the timing of your system commission right, and help maximise your battery rebate, while ensuring the storage capacity is spot-on for your property,” Rob said.

More than just solar panels, Solahart Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance offers a full suite of energy solutions, including premium VPP-ready batteries, energy monitoring systems, and tailored advice.

“Our team provides free solar and battery assessments, helping customers find the best solution for their needs and budget,” Rob said.

“And 72 months interest-free finance is also available, with zero per cent deposit for eligible customers, making it even easier to get started, modify or add battery storage to an existing system.”

Backed by more than 70 years of national experience, Solahart has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality solar systems, professional service and long-term support. Locally owned and operated, Solahart Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance understands the unique needs of the region – from the demands of rural properties to the changing energy needs of homes and small businesses.

“We’re passionate about helping Gippsland households reduce their power bills, increase self-sufficiency, and make smart, future-focused energy choices,” Rob said.

To discover how you can save with the new battery rebate program, book an obligation-free solar assessment with Solahart Bairnsdale or Lakes Entrance.
