The Lakes Entrance Golf Club’s picturesque course continues to play magnificently, with plenty of great scores achieved over the past seven days.
The highlight of the week was Sue Toseland defeating Ruth McPhee in the ladies knockout finale.
Last Tuesday in Young and the Rest of Us, Betty Martino led the field home with a score of plus one, finishing marginally ahead of Sheila Taylor who finished square.
Another competitive week at Ruthless and Toothless with 40 players lining up, Les Rodgers victorious in “A” grade and Ken Butler, taking “B” grade.
Wednesday’s ladies day event was the opening day of the 4BBB championship, which also acts as round one of the Glady May Cup.
Overall winners on the day, were the “A” grade pairing of Renee Percival and Di Gray with a cracking score of 46 points, with “B” grade going the way of consistent pairing Ruth McPhee and
Val Gilbert.
Thursday’s medley stableford was well patronised with 75 match fees paid, “C” grade player Adrian Parry having a day out, claiming the overall event with a splendid 38 points.
Dean Grining was victorious in “A” grade
with 37 points, with Ian McKenna getting home in “C” grade on countback from a plethora
of players.
Jacinta Wilson was in solid form in Saturday’s ladies event, winning “A” grade by a shot from the consistent Percival.
Martino continued her good form, taking “B” grade.
Saturday’s conditions were less than ideal, which resulted in lower numbers in both the ladies’ and men’s events, with 85 players taking to the course, which is still an excellent result.
The overall winners was Peter Nicholas, who also took “B” grade with 36, classy veteran, Shane Sproule jagged “A” grade, with young Kia Douglas pocketing “C” grade on countback from Parry, who almost went back-to-back.
