Metung Lions Club has been busy with a new project over the past week at its home base.

The club’s shed surroundings have undergone a transformation as the entry to and exit from the site had become rough and dangerous for small vehicles. Over time storm water from a nearby road washed a deep gutter inside the concrete kerbing along Metung Road.

With the donated assistance of screenings and machinery from local operators, plus manual labour from the Lions members, the site has been transformed into an all-weather location.

The area is used mainly by the community to drop off 10 cent bottles and cans raising money for the Metung CFA and Lions projects.

In addition, a small retaining wall constructed along the front of the shed will be planted with small shrubs to beautify the site.

Metung Lions Club secretary Malcolm Reed thanked all those involved in the project.

John Butler-Cole, Richard English, Malcolm Reed, Andrew Bell and Tony Foot were part of the working crew at Metung Lions Club shed. (PS)
