Lakes Entrance continued its outstanding start to the 2025 season with both the under 13 and 15 sides accounting for Bairnsdale in round five of the East Gippsland Junior Football Association last Sunday at the Bairnsdale City Oval.
Both sides sit on top of the ladder, unbeaten with a clash against other unbeaten entity Wy Yung looming in the coming weeks.
The under 15 match was a cracker, the first time the Seagulls have been seriously challenged for the season.
Bairnsdale impressed early kicking three goals to two in a free-flowing opening term, before the Seagulls found their mojo, clawing their way to a three-point half time lead.
Both teams were keen to make their mark in a torrid third term, with the match developing into a battle of the half back lines as Lakes lengthened its lead to four points at the final change.
With plenty to play for the Seagulls dug deep in the final term to win by 10 points, kicking two goals to one impressing everyone with their composure under pressure.
It was a much easier victory for the under 13s winning conservatively by 30 points with John Sowden and Sunny Eiseman dynamic up forward finishing with three goals each, while Rocky Wetere-Katipa and Patrick McGinty kicked three goals each.
McGinty, Makayla Sowden, Eiseman, Wetere-Katipa, Reide Ymer and Jaxon Linn were all standouts for
the young Seagulls who continue to improve and thrive under the tutelage of Gerard Kennedy.
Lakes Entrance will host Paynesville in under 13 and 11 fixtures, with the under 15 side having a bye.
