Lakes Entrance has had its best day at the courts in East Gippsland netball, winning six of their seven matches against Paynesville at AJ Freeman Reserve last Saturday.
The Seagulls broke through for their first win of the season in “A” grade, eclipsing
the Gulls by 58 goals in a sensational performance from a side that has struggled in the opening rounds.
Skyla White and Emma Yates were in outstanding touch for the Seagulls, who hope the emphatic victory may kickstart their season.
The Gulls were competitive in “B” grade as the Seagulls again opened their account with a convincing 24-goal win.
Pohiri Ryder-Gemmell, Pariss McKendry and Tayla Mills led the way forLakes Entrance.
Another breakthrough victory for Lakes Entrance came in “C” grade, proving too steady in the second half for a 10-goal win, led by a standout game from Alicia Friend.
Lakes was much too good in “D” grade, dominating the match in a 21-goal victory, with Hayley Robertson and Harriet Copeland, two of the more influential performers.
The Lakes under 17 team sits on top of the ladder unbeaten, blowing the Gulls away by 50 goals, Taylah Alsop and Makayla Grabham influential performers.
Paynesville’s under 15 side has been the success story in recent seasons and they again got the points on Saturday, scoring their third win for the season, easily eclipsing the winless Seagulls by 19 goals.
The girls are certainly combining better as a team, with a win not looking too far away.
Lakes sits in fourth spot on the ladder in the under 13s after dominating its second half fixture, running out 26-goal victors over the improving Gulls, with Violet Lyon the prime mover for the Seagulls.
Lakes Entrance will host Stratford at the Lakeside Oval this week, hoping some of the confidence gained from last weeks matches will carry forward against one of the competition’s form clubs.
