After a big week off the field Swan Reach bounced back with an emphatic 42-point victory over Swifts Creek in round four of Omeo and District Football Netball League at the Swan Reach Recreation Reserve, despite playing with just 15 players.
Among the ins for the Swans were journeyman Darren Allen and 60-year-old Ringo Morgan.
Jesse Guarnaccia and Tyrone Hayes are unlikely to suit up for the Swans in the short term, while club president Mick Jakins has called time on his tenure in the wash up of what was a disastrous week for the club on the back of their match with Omeo Benambra being called off by umpires prior to three quarter time.
The Swans quickly put the match out of the reach of the Demons with six unanswered first term goals as Max Solomon (five goals) and Allen (four) operated in tandem, neither as deadly as in their hay day, but still causing enough headaches for the undermanned Demons.
The Demons didn’t kick a goal in the first half, but to their credit they outscored the Swans by seven goals to two in the second half as the home side got tired.
Pacy young forward Jack Reid kicked three goals for Swifts Creek, while Jay Robbie kicked a couple finding the going a bit tougher than last week against the Swampies.
Swan Reach will meet Bruthen in the match of the round this week at the Bruthen Recreation Reserve, with Swifts Creek having a crucial appointment at home with Buchan. A loss could see the Demons two matches and percentage outside the top four.
