For the past five weeks the Cancer Council Volunteer Group Bairnsdale has been busy selling raffle tickets for their seven big baskets of Easter Eggs, with the winners recently drawn at the Central Hotel in Lakes Entrance.
All but one prize went to local people, which pleased the group as the local community had been so generous in their donations.
“We were delighted to raise $3766 with all proceeds going to cancer research,” members Lynn Kohler and Sandra Smith said.
“All the eggs were generously donated to us by the Melbourne Chocolate Company.”
The Cancer Council Volunteer Group also held a Biggest Morning Tea on Tuesday at the Riviera Christian College in Bairnsdale. There were lots of raffles, food and stalls, one being stocked with local farmers’ veggies.
