The Gippsland Lakes Paddle Challenge has once again shone a light on the Gippsland Lakes.
The Lakes Entrance Surf Life Saving Club’s annual fundraiser welcomed more than 150 paddlers of all shapes and sizes from all corners of
Victoria and interstate, some taking on the gruelling 27-kilometres event from Paynesville and others 13km event from Metung’s Shaving Point.
Competitors were greeted by outstanding weather, the sun shining brightly as racers made their way across the Lakes system before ending in front of the surf club’s social rooms.
While quality times were recorded due to the near-perfect conditions, ultimately the event largely centres around fundraising, all paddlers going into the draw for lucky door prizes provided by numerous local businesses. Photos page 7.
