Gippsland Bowls Region competitors have found the going tough at the State Championships at Ballarat over the past week.
The competition sees the winners from the 16 Victorian regions play off to decide who is the state’s best.
Adam Easton, Darren Aurisch, Phillip Crowder and Brad Lancaster were the region’s first representatives last Thursday in the fours, knocked out in the first round 15-11.
Stratford’s Leonie Flynn and Kirstie White were eliminated in the quarter final of the ladies pairs, going down 17-11.
Lakes’ Joanne Martin was knocked out in the quarter finals of the Champion of Champion ladies singles, going down 25-16.
Colac’s William Collihole defeated Orbost/Lakes Entrance’s Brad Lancaster in the quarter finals of the men’s singles 25-20.
Another Lakes player, Julie Simpson went down 25-20 in the opening round of the women’s singles, while the Paynesville combination of Glynis Bugeja, Rhonda Sadovsky, and young guns Lacey and Ella Kiss were also eliminated in the ladies fours in the first round 20-6.
Sale’s David Hogan, Russell Lambourn and Brendan Addison went down in their first round match 18-17 in the men’s triples.
The championships continue through to Friday.
