The Australian Volunteer Coastguard National Board held its face-to-face meeting at Lakes Entrance Coastguard last Saturday.
The board meets four times a year, but only twice face-to-face and this was the first time the meeting was held in a regional area.
“Usually it is held in a city, but they chose Lakes Entrance, I like to think it is because we are a shining star in the organisation,” Commander of the Lakes Coastguard Mike Gilbert said.
Representatives travelled from all sections of South Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland and Victoria.
“It was a very successful event, it went over very well. “They all took time to discover our region and the weather was perfect,” Mike said.
“I would like to thank the Lions Club of Gippsland Lakes Lionesses for catering for the event.”
