At Driving Miss Daisy Lakes Entrance, operators Elizabeth and Dallas believe everyone deserves to stay connected, independent and supported — no matter their stage of life.
“But for us, this isn’t just a business; it’s a personal mission rooted in community, care, and the simple joy of helping others,” the duo said.
“We’re Dallas and Elizabeth, a husband-and-wife team who both grew up in Gippsland. We’ve seen firsthand the challenges people face when it comes to getting to appointments, staying social and maintaining their independence — especially in regional areas where transport options are limited. “Our goal is to break down those barriers and ensure everyone has access to the services they need.”
Elizabeth grew up in Buchan and is a local school teacher. She understands the importance of care, patience and building strong relationships, qualities that are just as important in transport as they are in the classroom.
While teaching remains her primary focus, she also plays a key role in supporting Driving Miss Daisy, ensuring the service is warm, welcoming and reliable.
For Dallas helping people in remote areas has always been a part of his career. As a pilot for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) in remote Western Australia, he saw firsthand how difficult it was for people to access medical care and essential services. After moving to Lakes Entrance he helped establish the Flying Doctor Community Transport program, recognising the urgent need for affordable, accessible transport.
While the program provides an incredible service, its long-term sustainability is challenging to navigate because government funding determines the viability of the program year to year.
Seeing this Driving Miss Daisy looks to overcome a lot of the challenges faced by other providers and offer a more sustainable service that can be both flexible and reliable transport — not just for medical appointments but for social outings, shopping trips, and everyday independence all in one, a service that offers greater accessibility, companionship and a truly personal touch.
“We proudly serve Lakes Entrance, Bairnsdale, Paynesville, and the surrounding areas. Whether you need a quick trip to the shops, a medical appointment in town, or even a ride home from Melbourne, Driving Miss Daisy is here to help,” Elizabeth said.
Driving Miss Daisy offers affordable and cost-effective transportation services, with more than one million completed jobs across Australia. All services are pre-quoted based on time, distance and the specific needs of the passengers.
“We proudly support clients with Home Care Packages and NDIS-funded participants. Take advantage of our popular Gift Vouchers and promotional offers to experience reliable, personalised transport,” Elizabeth said.
