2025 has seen the arrival of a new principal at Toorloo Arm Primary School and she is very much enjoying being welcomed warmly to the school and her new role.
Allison Hopkins began her teaching career at Lucknow Primary School so is familiar with the area. She then went on to work at the Department of Education before taking on the role as assistant principal at Bairnsdale Secondary College for the past four years.
“I am certainly enjoying being back in a primary school environment, it is a refreshing change to be back with younger children,” Allison said.
She describes Toorloo Arm Primary as a school with a fabulous culture, great staff, very much a team with lots of focus on wellbeing and looking after each other.
Allison resides in Bairnsdale and is happy to do the travel. She enjoys reading, keeping fit, especially walking her dog, and is happy the AFL season is with us again, particularly keen to support her team Essendon.
She is eager to continue on with ex-principal Kerry Hughes’ legacy.
“I am looking forward to being part of one of the leading primary schools in the area. I recognise and appreciate that the school is well run and a good school already.
“We have 128 students here and we make sure that everyone is learning to their capacity,” she said.
