The recent Shipwrecks Exhibition shows the success when two of Lakes Entrance’s busy volunteer groups work together on a project.
The Lakes Entrance Historical Society’s highly successful Shipwrecks on the East Gippsland Coast exhibition, which ran through January, was hosted and supported by the Lakes Entrance Coast Guard at their rooms on the Esplanade.
By way of thanks for their support, the historical society has contributed $500 towards funding
the coast guard’s operations.
Historical society president, Anne Macarthur AM, took the opportunity to thank Commander Mike Gilbert for their support and use of their premises.
“We are so appreciative of the enthusiasm the Coast Guard brought to this project, nothing was too much trouble,” Anne said.
The Shipwrecks Exhibition was also supported by the East Gippsland Shire Council and East Gippsland Community Foundation.
It is currently showing at the library in Orbost and will be travelling on to the Bunker Museum at Mallacoota from March 24.
