With the sun shining and an influx of tourists in town, 58 participants ran, jogged or walked the five-kilometre Lakes Entrance parkrun course last Saturday morning.
First-time participant Declan Wagstaff led the field home in a steady time of 21 minutes and 29 seconds, finishing ahead of Baw Baw Runners’ Chris Dewar (21.48), who was delighted to run a personal best time.
Ashley Knur (22.52) completed the course in third, with the first woman across the line being local Peta Bassett (24.25), who finished ninth overall.
Pleasingly the event attracted 20 first-time runners and six individuals broke personal best times, with eight running groups represented.
Personal best times were put in by Rylie Darcy (25.10), Ray Leak (32.46), Peter Ketting (32.52), Jenny Wagstaff (40.44) and Cody Cuthburston (52.15).
Running groups represented in the event were Baw Baw Runners, Lakes and District Runners, Pakenham Road Runners, Cairns Road Runners, Southern Peninsula Sporting Club, Traralgon Harriers, Gippsland Track Club and Hartbeespoort Ac Za.
